I have been at Oshki Ogimaag since September 2022. Currently, I am the Assistant Director, Special Education Coordinator, Literacy Lead and Interventionist here at Oshki Ogimaag. I have been in the field of education for 28 years, in roles from Teacher to Director, and working with ages from early childhood to college. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy: Applied Ethics from St. Catherine University and I earned my Master’s degree in Family Life Education from Concordia University, St. Paul. My Master’s research was centered around Autism Spectrum Disorders, and have experience both in teaching and parenting young people on the autism spectrum. I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was in Kindergarten, and find great joy in my work. The mission of Oshki Ogimaag is meaningful to me and it is an honor and privilege to teach in Grand Portage, I love all that I learn alongside students every day and time we spend in nature, classrooms without walls! We have six kids in our family, three are adults, one is a senior this year and two are students at GES (which is where I taught prior to joining the team at Oshki Ogimaag). Outside of school, my favorite things to do are watch movies, spend time with my family, cooking, playing board games or going on min-adventures, time with friends, walking in the woods, relaxing around a bonfire and listening to the waves of Gichigami.
